Law firm partner to head new academy council

Emilda Morgans, who is currently head of Wosskow Brown’s private client department, was confirmed as chair of the council of the Oasis Academy, Don Valley, after its recent turf cutting ceremony.

The new school will neighbour Wosskow Brown’s Attercliffe office and will open its doors to nursery and primary students in September.

“I could not be more surprised and delighted with this honour and I am looking forward to working with Oasis, helping to raise pupils aspirations, expectations and achievements in our local community,” said Emilda, who was a governor to Westbourne School in Broomhill between 2005 and 2013.

Emilda’s role will include chairing meetings of the Academy Council and overseeing its activities, as well as helping to develop community links along with the academy and the senior leadership team.

The school is the first building to be completed of the new Olympic Legacy Park, which will also include a community sports arena, Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre and a university technical college.

Wosskow Brown’s head of Governance Services, Norma Downer-Powell, said: “We appreciate all Emilda does and look forward to working with her.

“Together we can build a strong community and improve standards for students at Oasis Academy.”
