Meet The Principal of Sheffield’s Second University Technical College

Construction is progressing well at the £10 million UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus on Attercliffe Common, which will specialise in healthcare and sports sciences, and computing.

The UTC will train 14 to 19-year-olds in the skills that Sheffield City Region’s businesses need to grow, and is due to open to students this September. Applications are still being accepted. Visit http://www.utcsheffield.org.uk/

Sarah Clark, the newly appointed Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus, will meet the public at two events on April 13th and 26th. Guests will find out about the qualifications on offer, employers supporting the curriculum and the higher education and careers opportunities for young people.

Sarah Clark, Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus, said: “Sheffield’s second UTC is an exciting new facility that is building on the success of the city’s first one with strong employer backing for the curriculum. Students will benefit from a well rounded education, completing high quality technical as well as academic qualifications that lead to jobs or university afterwards.”

The healthcare taster event takes place on April 13th from 5pm to 7pm at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus on Matilda Street. The healthcare science specialism leads to careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing and midwifery and becoming a paramedic. Book your place here.

The sports science taster event takes place on April 26th from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Centre for Sports Engineering Research, Sheffield Hallam University Collegiate Campus on Collegiate Crescent. The sports science specialism leads to careers working as an elite athlete and becoming a sports scientist or personal trainer. Book your place here.

Sarah, who has a PhD in Molecular Genetics and a BSc in Microbiology, held a variety of senior roles in education for 11 to 18-year-olds across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, prior to starting in post this March.
