Meet The Principal Of Sheffield’s Second UTC

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus will specialise in healthcare and sports sciences, and computing, and is backed by employers.
 
The £10 million facility for 600 students, aged 14 to 19, on Attercliffe Common, is being built on the Olympic Legacy Park and is due to open this September.
 
A showcase event will take place on Wednesday, February 17th, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, at Sheffield Hallam University in the Heartspace Atrium, Owen Building, City Campus.

Nick Crew, Executive Principal, UTC Sheffield, said: “Construction is progressing well as the steel frame rapidly takes shape on the Sheffield skyline. The UTC will offer great careers for young people across the region in sectors that are growing.”
 
The Sheffield College is the lead sponsor of the UTC. Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry are co sponsors. BAM Construction is building the facility. It has been designed by Bond Bryan Architects.

The UTC curriculum has been designed with employers. Students complete a technical qualification in addition to GCSEs and A Levels. Recruitment will be phased over three years. The catchment area is Sheffield City Region, which includes South Yorkshire and parts of North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
