Paralympic champion to host coach seminar

Danielle Brown MBE will give advice at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, which is part of the Olympic Legacy Park, on how coaches can develop their skills, increase learning and boost self-belief and motivation in their athletes.

Danielle won archery gold at the 2008 and 2012 Paralympics in addition to three World Championship titles and a 2010 Commonwealth gold medal where she was the first disabled athlete to represent England in an able-bodied discipline.

Yorkshire-born Danielle pays tribute to the team who helped her reach the pinnacle of her profession and is now giving something back by sharing her experience in a series of seminars and courses around the country.

The seminar will show coaches how to interact effectively and build rapport with athletes as well as explain the correlation between self-confidence and success, using the power of positive thinking to find ways to overcome mental boundaries and obstacles that often hinders athlete improvement.

Nigel Harrison, chief executive of South Yorkshire Sport, said: “It’s fantastic that we’re able to welcome a Paralympic champion to South Yorkshire to help the coaching workforce in the county develop their skills. Danielle has experience at an elite level and I’m sure the knowledge she will be able to pass onto coaches will be of great value to all those who attend.”

The seminar will take place on Thursday 17 March, from 6pm to 9pm and tickets are priced at £20 per person.
