Job Title:  Project Director

Location:  Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park

Reporting to: Chair

Accountable to:  Legacy Park Ltd (LPL) Board of Directors

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Project Director will drive forward the development and achievement of the long term vision of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park and surrounding Attercliffe area (as detailed in the ‘Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park vision 2021-2026’ document), including:

  • Maintaining Olympic brand criteria and developing legacy themes
  • Economic regeneration; strategic support to Scarborough Group (SG) in the redevelopment of the land included in the Development Agreement
  • Promoting the profile of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park
  • Managing network of interest and facilitating partnership working with the appropriate organisations

Responsibilities

  • Ensure use of licenced word (Olympic) in British Olympic Association (BOA) agreement is adhered to. Manage criteria to retain BOA Agreement
  • Promote and facilitate partnership working in order to focus multi agency resource on delivering key elements of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park business plan
  • Coordinate sponsors and occupiers towards achieving LPL objectives in the five year vision statement
  • Ensure Scarborough Group plans maintain health and wellbeing themes
  • Ensure that any activity connected with Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park is consistent with the five year vision statement and coordinate an annual review to update

Core Tasks

  • Coordination and communication with LPL Members to ensure that their objectives and outputs for investing in LPL are met
  • Prepare investment prospectus for capital investments and collaborative research opportunities and keep up to date
  • Prepare and deliver a business plan for the development of a health and wellbeing research driven eco system in conjunction with current occupiers and other interested parties
  • Prepare outline brief for medium term real estate requirements based upon the needs of current park occupiers and potential relocations
  • Maintain links with public sector bodies (Canals and Rivers Trust, SYPTE, SCC other funds i.e. Transforming Cities) where it is of a benefit to the economic regeneration of the area
  • Promote, support and facilitate other investment opportunities outside of SG remit
  • Develop a programme of proactive support to attract global companies to invest and/or relocate
  • Develop a strategy and plan to improve the opportunities for high value employment
  • Support the development of site wide strategies that promote improved health and wellbeing and the Olympic themes (branding, signage, art, wayfinding, F+B and sustainability)
  • Prepare public sector funding applications to support investment
  • Point of contact for operations and development of relationship with Sheffield City Region LEP/Combined Authority to develop business support packages that encourage relocation to Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, and create a programme of activities and incentives to attract and support local SMEs within the health and wellbeing sector
  • Identify supplementary uses and promotion of opportunities (For instance Sheffield College Employer Skills Academy)
  • Build a network of communications with like-minded organisations and partners, nationally and internationally, to share knowledge, experience and best practice

Finance

  • Prepare one year operations plan and obtain approval from SCC and LPL Members in a timely manner and prior to the commencement of the financial year
  • Oversee annual operations budget and ensure availability of sufficient funds for all planned expenditure
  • Approve all payments within a timely manner
  • Ensure that best value is delivered

Skills/Background

  • Extensive Project Management background, with a proven track record in delivering property and economic regeneration projects and dealing with key private and public sector stakeholders
  • A high level of knowledge and understanding of business management, sourcing funding, and supporting businesses with investing in capital assets and/or relocations
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead, motivate and manage public and private sector organisations, bringing these organisations together to deliver LPL objectives
  • Highly effective at working in partnership with public sector organisations, managing own workload, working proactively and working to deadlines
  • Proven ability to build good relationships and work in a supportive manner. Self-motivated and able and willing to work as part of a small team.
