New business lounge and cafe opens at Steel City Stadium

A bold new chapter has begun at Steel City Stadium with the official opening of a state-of-the-art coworking lounge and performance café, delivering a dynamic workspace and wellbeing hub right in the heart of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.

Developed by Scarborough Group International (SGI), the new space offers more than just desks and coffee. It’s a purpose-built environment where entrepreneurs, researchers, sports professionals and innovators can collaborate, refuel and grow, accelerating the region’s strengths in health, sport and wellbeing.

Transforming the future of work and wellbeing

Launched on 30 June 2025, this development marks a major milestone in the ongoing evolution of Steel City Stadium, from elite sports venue to vibrant centre of enterprise and innovation.

SGI, the Park’s development partner, has invested over £10 million in delivering the Stadium to date, alongside a further £500,000 dedicated to creating the new workspace and café. This continued investment underscores SGI’s long-term commitment to the Park, to Sheffield, and to the collaborative innovation ecosystem that is growing here.

“This launch is a major step forward in our long-term vision for the Park,” said Ian Sanderson, Estates and Development Consultant at SGI. “By opening up the ground floor of the Stadium, we’re creating far more than just workspace, we’re building a connected, collaborative environment where people can meet, share ideas and spark new partnerships.”

Designed for flexibility, fuelled by innovation

The Stadium Workspace has been designed with flexibility and connectivity in mind, featuring hot desks, breakout zones, private booths and a year-round programme of events and workshops.

Through a strategic partnership with Sheffield Technology Parks, members also gain access to tailored business support, funding guidance and valuable connections, particularly beneficial for early-stage founders and growing teams.

Complementing the workspace is a new performance nutrition café, operated by Sheffield-based Food Fusion. Known for their athlete-informed approach to nutrition, they’re serving up fresh, energising meals and snacks to support focus, recovery and wellbeing, whether you’re coming from a meeting, a match or a workout. The café is open to the public, with exclusive offers available for members.

A gateway to Sheffield’s health innovation district

Stadium Workspace is already home to over 30 organisations, including MediLink UK, UK NEQAS, and Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA. It sits at the centre of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, an 80-acre campus bringing together education, clinical research, elite sport and applied technology.

Neighbouring institutions such as Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, the English Institute of Sport Sheffield and Canon Medical Arena further enhance the ecosystem, creating a one-of-a-kind location for those working at the intersection of health, sport and innovation.

This development is part of SGI’s wider masterplan for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, which will ultimately deliver up to 1 million sq ft of commercial space, creating an unparalleled platform for growth in one of the UK’s most ambitious innovation districts.
