To celebrate, the Olympic Legacy Park (OLP) is setting you the challenge to nominate your grassroots sporting heroes.
Six special awards will be presented to an individual or team in the following categories:
· Sportsman of the Year
· Sportswoman of the Year
· Sports Club/Team of the Year
· Future Star
· Unsung Hero
· Overcoming adversity
Do you know someone who fits the bill? Perhaps someone at your sports club, your gym, your league or even your family is deserved of one of these awards? Don’t delay, cast your nomination today!
All you need to do is complete the online nomination form by Friday 16 September.
The Olympic Legacy Park’s panel of experts will then choose a shortlist of three entrants per category, and a public vote will help choose the winner.
The winners will be presented with an award at Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport, a glittering gala dinner taking place at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EIS) on Wednesday 5 October.
A number of big names will be in attendance at the red carpet event helping to celebrate Sheffield’s past, present and future sporting stars including Rio Olympic silver medallist, Bryony Page former professional boxer, Johnny Nelson and mountain-biking superstar, Steve Peat
