The second staging of Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport will take place on Thursday 4 October at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield in the centre of the Indoor Athletics Arena.
With famous faces from a range of sports already confirmed – including figures from the Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games and European Championships – it promises to be a spectacular night following the inaugural event two years ago when guests included Anthony Joshua and Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill.
Mountain biker Steve Peat, Olympic diver Freddie Woodward, Commonwealth Basketball Captain Mike Tuck and GB Boxing Commonwealth medallists will be amongst the sports guests making an appearance this year.
The night will also feature an exciting visual spectacular showcasing the fast-growing urban sports scene.
TV presenter Tanya Arnold will host the evening, interviewing many names from the world of sport.
Sheffield’s contribution to the World Cup will be recognised and we will also feature a poignant memorial to boxing trainer Brendan Ingle who died earlier this year.
The evening will include the presentation of seven awards – Senior Sports Performer, Disabled Sports Performer, Young Sports Performer, Community Amateur Sports Club, Community Sports Volunteer, Move More Power of Sport and Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity in Education. A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented.
The event will raise funds for two local charities – The Children’s Hospital Charity, Sheffield and the Yorkshire Sport Foundation.
A very limited number of VIP table packages are still available, allowing you and your guests to enjoy an exclusive Champagne reception with sporting celebrities and the company of a Sheffield sports star dining at your table. VIP packages are £2,000 + VAT for a table of ten.
