Construction is progressing well at the £10 million UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus on Attercliffe Common, which will specialise in healthcare and sports sciences, and computing.
The UTC will train 14 to 19-year-olds in the skills that Sheffield City Region’s businesses need to grow, and is due to open to students this September. Applications are still being accepted. Visit http://www.utcsheffield.org.uk/
Sarah Clark, the newly appointed Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus, will meet the public at two events on April 13th and 26th. Guests will find out about the qualifications on offer, employers supporting the curriculum and the higher education and careers opportunities for young people.

The healthcare taster event takes place on April 13th from 5pm to 7pm at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus on Matilda Street. The healthcare science specialism leads to careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing and midwifery and becoming a paramedic. Book your place here.
The sports science taster event takes place on April 26th from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Centre for Sports Engineering Research, Sheffield Hallam University Collegiate Campus on Collegiate Crescent. The sports science specialism leads to careers working as an elite athlete and becoming a sports scientist or personal trainer. Book your place here.
Sarah, who has a PhD in Molecular Genetics and a BSc in Microbiology, held a variety of senior roles in education for 11 to 18-year-olds across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, prior to starting in post this March.
Before joining UTC Sheffield, Sarah was Principal and Vice Principal at Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form in Tamworth, West Midlands.
The Sheffield College is the lead sponsor of the UTC. Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry are co sponsors.
The facilities include a three-dimensional motion capture studio, sports science laboratory, fitness suite, health and development suite including a flexible ward set up and area for an ambulance, a research laboratory, and computer suites.
The UTC, which is being built by BAM Construction and has been designed by Bond Bryan Architects, has capacity for 600 students with recruitment phased over three years. Students can join at the age of 14 in Year 10 or at the age of 16 in Year 12.
All students complete a technical qualification as well as GCSEs and A Levels. The recruitment area is Sheffield City Region, which includes South Yorkshire and parts of North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
