UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park are introducing the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park Community Arena Basketball Academy. In collaboration with the renowned Sheffield Sharks and Sheffield Hatters basketball teams, and with the support of the UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the academy is set to redefine basketball training and education in South Yorkshire.
The Academy will have state-of-the-art facilities at the Park Community Arena developed by Canon Medical Systems, the UK’s first sustainable, carbon-neutral-built community arena where students will experience a training environment like no other. The multi-purpose sports facility, which is due to open in Autumn 2023 is located at the heart of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, boasting three full-size basketball courts and can accommodate up to 2,500 spectators. As the new home for the Sharks and Hatters, it will exude an atmosphere of excellence and inspires athletes to push their boundaries.
At the Basketball Academy, students in Year 12 and 13 will train alongside professional coaches and players. With training sessions scheduled three times a week, students will receive personalised attention and guidance to develop their skills, enhance game strategy, and elevate performances to new heights. The academy will focus on both technical and tactical aspects of the game and will ensure a holistic approach to basketball development.
