People who live or work in Attercliffe, Darnall or the surrounding area are invited to attend the free Olympic Legacy Park Community Event at the Oasis Academy Don Valley on Monday 7 March, from 5.30pm.
 
There will be a chance to meet OLP partners as well as Project Lead, Richard Caborn, who will provide an update on the London 2012 legacy project’s progress. Ares Landscape Architects will be on hand to answer questions and showcase the plans for the park landscaping and outdoor spaces.
 
The 35-acre Olympic Legacy Park is set to become an internationally recognised centre for health, wellbeing and innovation.
 
Once complete, the Olympic Legacy Park will include the existing English Institute of Sport Sheffield, iceSheffield, Don Valley Bowl and Oasis Academy Don Valley.
 
It will include the UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus, which is currently being constructed, and Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, plus offices and laboratories for companies involved in health and wellbeing research
 
The Park Community Arena, where the Sheffield Sharks basketball team will be based, and a community stadium, which will become home to the Sheffield Eagles rugby league team, will also become part of the OLP.
 
Claire Fretwell, from Legacy Park Ltd, who has organised the event, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for those who live and work in Attercliffe, Darnall and the surrounding areas to find out more about this unique project and how it will benefit them.
 
“With the Oasis Academy Don Valley already open and work on the UTC Sheffield OLP well underway, the park is really starting to take shape. We’re keen to meet local businesses and residents to showcase plans for the next stage of the project and highlight the facilities, green spaces, running and cycling paths and outdoor exercise areas which will be available for the local community to use.”
