The Master, Richard Edwards, was invited to the OLP site to view the progress of the landscaping, infrastructure and the new 3G community pitch.

He was then given a guided tour of the UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus by the Principal, Dr Sarah Clark. The UTC opened its doors to 140 students in September 2016 and specialises in Health Sciences, Sport Science and Computing.

When fully operational, the 35-acre OLP, which is being developed in Attercliffe, is set to become the world’s leading location for innovation in sport, health and wellbeing.

The Master said: “I am very impressed by the Olympic Legacy Park.

“It was wonderful to see the plans for the site first-hand and how this landmark project is paving the way for the sports, health and wellbeing agenda in the city.

“With a brilliant facility like the UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park campus providing a forward-thinking learning environment, young people across the region are being given the opportunity to realise their potential.

“The community pitch is being created to meet the needs of a variety of users, from schools to local clubs and sporting teams, facilitating more sport and fitness in our city.

“I look forward to visiting the site again in the summer to see the completed pitch and landscaping.”
