The proposed £4m Park Community Arena seats up to 2500 spectators and is just minutes away from major transport links joining it easily with the rest of the Region as well as having a variety of hotels, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues close by.
Director of Park Community Arena, Yuri Matischen said, “Park Community Arena plans to be the home of a key number of sports covering the continuum from elite to grass roots. The interest from Netball has been extremely encouraging and we feel a Yorkshire franchise based in Sheffield will be a great opportunity for all involved in the sport. We are undertaking a feasibility into ensuring we have the partnerships and funding to have a sustainable way forward.”
Yorkshire Netball Chair, Kim Burns added “Since the last round of franchises were awarded there has been a huge gap in Yorkshire as we were left without a Super League team, especially considering how successful we have been in producing talented players. Yorkshire Netball sees it as essential there is a franchise in Yorkshire and we are keen to work with the Park Community Arena Consortium and other interested parties, in making this a reality. This latest bid looks like a very exciting opportunity indeed.”
The Park Community Arena Consortium is keen to reach out to other parties who want to be part of the feasibility study so for more information, please contact Yuri Matischen (Managing Director, MLS Contracts Ltd), at yuri.matischen@mlsgb.co
