More than 1,000 guests, including stars from the world of sport such as Rio silver medallist Bryony Page, Paralympic silver medallist Will Bayley, Mountain Bike World Champion Steve Peat and IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook are set to attend Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport.

The gala dinner, organised by the Olympic Legacy Park, will take place in the centre of the Indoor Athletics Arena at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield on Wednesday 5 October.

Hosted by BBC Look North’s Tanya Arnold, it will celebrate heroes who have put Sheffield City Region on the sporting map in 2016, from Nicola Adams to Jessica Ennis-Hill and Matt Fitzpatrick to Joe Root, as well as past and future stars.

AESSEAL, Sheffield Hallam University, One Health, the Premier League, the Professional Footballers Association, HR Media and SIV are amongst the organisations supporting the event.

The event will raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity and SportsAid Yorkshire and Humberside.

Richard Caborn, project lead for the Olympic Legacy Park, said: “This is going to be one of the most star-studded events of the year and one not to be missed.

“Olympic fever has certainly swept the Sheffield City Region and we can’t wait to honour our Rio heroes as well as mark what has been one of our best ever years for sport in 2016.”

Gold packages include an exclusive Champagne reception with sporting celebrities, a table with an Olympian or world-class sports star, three-course meal, wine and coffee and full page advert in the souvenir programme.
