Henry Boot Construction Limited. has made it to the final round in both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the National Federation of Building (NFB) Awards.
The Olympic Legacy Park is shortlisted for two awards at the RICS event, the Regeneration Award and the highly-sought after Community Benefit Award.
The shortlisted Regeneration award is for the works undertaken to the former Don Valley Stadium site following the stadium closure in 2013. An affordable and sustainable solution was needed to transform the site into an inspirational and dedicated home of sport for athletes of all levels and all abilities.
Henry Boot remediated the entire site, being resourceful by reusing all excavated materials, reducing the project costs and minimising any harm to the environment, before completing the infrastructure, hard and soft landscaping, car parks, public realm and 3G pitch, setting a high standard for future investment and redevelopment in the surrounding area.
The shortlisted Community Benefit award has been achieved for Henry Boot’s dedication to working with the local people of Attercliffe and the wider community through community involvement projects. The company also provided lifelong experience to engineering students from The Sheffield College and pupils from Oasis Academy Don Valley and UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, by hosting infrastructure workshops and extensive tours of the site to provide an insight into the industry.
The RICS Awards showcase inspirational developments and the most innovate projects of the region in real estate, construction and infrastructure. They are widely regarded as the premier property and construction accolades in the UK. Winners will be revealed on 11 May 2018 at the Centenary Pavilion, Leeds United Football Club.
Henry Boot’s work on Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park has also been nominated in the Collaboration of the Year category at the NFB Awards. Now in its sixth year, the 2018 NFB Awards celebrate experience, enthusiasm, creativity, and skill across the industry. The awards pay homage to both individuals and teams who work seamlessly together, and winners will be announced on 27 March 2018 at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Sutton Coldfield.
Managing Director at Henry Boot, Simon Carr, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. We worked incredibly hard with Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park to create a world-class facility that is set to change the community into something which will thrive for many years to come.”
