Derbyshire-born defender Hollie will be attending Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport at the English Institute of Sport (EIS Sheffield) on Wednesday 5 October.
The 25-year-old, from Belper, kept her cool on Britain’s fifth penalty to fire past Holland’s goalkeeper and secure the historic gold medal for TeamGB – one of the most memorable moments of Rio 2016.
A graduate of The University of Sheffield, Hollie made her international debut in 2013. She is a European gold medalist and competed for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a silver medal.
She will join the likes of Rio silver medal winning trampolining sensation, Bryony Page, and professional mountain biker, Steve Peat, at Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport.
Hollie said: “I’m honoured to have been invited to Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport and it will be a fantastic way to recognise the achievements of local athletes who represented TeamGB at Rio, as well as our region’s sporting stars of the past and those we should be looking out for in the future.
“Hopefully the GB team’s achievements in Rio can inspire even more people to get involved in hockey and give this great sport a try.”
Hundreds of guests from the world of sport are expected to attend at the Olympic Legacy Park’s glittering Celebration of Sport event, which is taking place in the centre of the Indoor Athletics Arena at EIS Sheffield – the same track where Olympians such as Jessica Ennis-Hill trained for Rio.
The event is being hosted by BBC sports reporter, Tanya Arnold and will raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity and SportsAid Yorkshire and Humberside.
Richard Caborn, project lead for the Olympic Legacy Park, said: “Hollie produced one of the most memorable moments of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and we are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to honour her incredible achievement at Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport.”
Six grassroots sports awards will be presented on the evening to Sports Club of the Year, Sports Woman of the Year, Sports Man of the Year, Future Star, Unsung Hero and an individual, group or team which has overcome adversity.
A range of sponsorship packages and silver and bronze table packages are available for the gala dinner (gold packages are sold out).
Silver packages offer a drinks reception, a table with a sports star, three-course meal, wine and coffee. In the bronze packages, guests will enjoy a drinks reception, three-course meal and coffee.
Individual tickets are available for £100+vat.
